Course Description: Attention deficit hyperactivity disorder is not merely a childhood condition. ADHD is a neurobehavioral disorder marked by persistent inattention, irritability, and/or hyperactivity-impulsivity. This article describes the diagnostic criteria, causes, types, comorbidities, and treatment of ADHD across the lifespan.
Objectives:

Identify the diagnostic criteria for the diagnosis of ADHD.

Compare the distinguishing features of ADHD manifested in children and adults.

Present the types of ADHD.

Review the comorbid disorders that occur with ADHD.

Summarize the nonpharmacologic treatment of ADHD.

Summarize the pharmacologic treatment of ADHD.

Identify the effects of untreated ADHD across the lifespan.
Passing Requirement: A 75% passing score and completion of a course evaluation is required in order to receive a certificate of successful completion.
