Course Description: When an older adult falls, the complications can be devastating. Nurses must provide an accurate assessment of fall risk and implement measures to prevent falls in this population. This article offers nurses the tools they need to evaluate fall risk and to institute a high-quality fall-prevention program.
Objectives:

Identify older adults who are at risk for falls.

Integrate interdisciplinary fall-prevention interventions into nursing care plans for older adults in the hospital setting.

Implement safe use of restraints in the institutional setting.

Implement measures to reduce fall risk in the community setting.
Passing Requirement: A 75% passing score and completion of a course evaluation is required in order to receive a certificate of successful completion.
