Lone Dancer To Integrated Simulation Program
Presenter(s):
Suzan Kardong-Edgren, PHD, RN, ANEF, CHSE, FSSH, FAAN
Duration:
1.5 Hours
CNEs:
1.5
Description & Objectives:
One person is not a "simulation program". Many nursing programs began using simulation through the efforts of a single simulation champion. However, as more simulation is adopted, new strategies are needed to develop an integrated and evidence based program. This presentation will explore ideas and tools for developing such a program. The Simulation Culture Organizational Readiness Survey, newly published 2016 INACSL Standards of Best Practice: Simulation, NCSBN simulation guidelines, and the Society for Simulation in Healthcare (SSH) Accreditation Standards will be reviewed for their usefulness in developing a strong simulation program.
Objective:
Evaluate the organizational readiness of one’s own program for the changes brought about by the adoption of simulation, by using the Simulation Culture Organizational Readiness Survey (SCORS).
Explain how to use major simulation organization documents and tools for developing and integrating simulation throughout a nursing program.
State one new take home idea based on this presentation
