The Engage® Series, an interactive learning resource developed by Ascend Learning brand ATI Nursing Education, has been honored with the 2026 Digital Learning Innovation Award in the EdTech Breakthrough Awards program. Ascend Learning is a leading healthcare and learning technology company that supports education and career paths across healthcare, education, wellness and safety.

The Engage Series is the winner of a 2026 Digital Learning Innovation Award from EdTech BreakthroughATI introduced the Engage Series in 2021 with Engage Fundamentals and has since expanded to include Engage Community & Public Health; Engage Adult Medical Surgical; Engage Mental Health; Engage Maternal, Newborn, and Women’s Health; Engage Nursing Concepts; Engage Pediatrics; and Engage Pharmacology. Engage Pathophysiology will be introduced in fall 2026.

The Engage Series is a multimedia-rich interactive learning resource with a strong focus on core evidence-based nursing content that prepares practice-ready nurses. Engage identifies the areas where students score lower or need deeper understanding and then follows up with targeted resources to strengthen their knowledge. Through multimodal learning experiences, Engage helps students build confidence, competence and the clinical judgment required for clinical readiness and real-world care.

At the center of the Engage Series experience is Claire AI®, a personalized learning assistant and study partner that reinforces key concepts and provides real-time, round-the-clock guidance. Students can explore lesson topics, practice clinical reasoning, and receive tailored explanations and feedback based on their individual learning needs.

The Engage Series provides a variety of digital learning opportunities that help students engage with content in ways that align with their learning preferences and deepen understanding. Interactive case studies, videos and podcasts bring patient encounters to life, creating immersive experiences that improve motivation, engagement and knowledge retention while offering multiple pathways to mastery.

The Engage Series also empowers educators to quickly and easily deliver inclusive, engaging, outcomes-aligned instruction. It enables them to create lesson plans from prebuilt slides, clinical scenarios, and NCLEX-style assessments, and to view real-time analytics that identify student needs. Engage also supports teaching effectiveness by providing actionable insights, learning resources, and tools that help educators personalize instruction.

“Engage’s digital learning landscape transforms passive study into active clinical reasoning,” said Steve Johansson, managing director for EdTech Breakthrough. “Preparing new nurses is urgent but challenging, with students expected to develop clinical judgment and decision-making skills while faculty navigate competing demands.

“Traditional text-based resources fall short in delivering interactive, applied learning experiences that build real-world competence,” he continued. “With the ATI Engage Series, students and educators operate in seamless partnership through a connected platform that transforms lessons into immersive, practice-ready experiences, making the journey to becoming a clinical-ready nurse as engaging and human as possible for everyone involved.”

Tushar Tanna, senior vice president for product development at Ascend Learning, noted that the effective learning experiences provided in the Engage Series do more than deliver information; they help students build the confidence and clinical judgment necessary to succeed in practice.

“The ATI Engage Series combines evidence-based content, interactive learning and AI-powered support to meet students where they are and help educators drive stronger outcomes,” Tanna said. “We’re honored to be recognized by EdTech Breakthrough for our continued commitment to innovation in healthcare education.”
